Presentation Downloads

This is my list of presentations I am able to present anytime. The current versions being the version I would give next week if you asked me to speak at your user group, the proposed ones might take a few weeks to prepare, and I have a link to the rest of the presentations I have given in the past decade. Each of the directories have copies of the presentation files I did for a conference so I (and you) can get back to the presentation I actually did.

  • Relational Database Design – My chestnut of a presentation that covers normalization and other aspects of creating a database.
  • Relational and Dimensional Design Differences – Comparison of classic relational design and dimensional design (fact and dimensions).
  • Relational Design Critique – Similar to the Relational Database Design presentation, but a lot lighter anymore about how you can look at a database to know if it is properly designed or not.
• Professional Development
  • Sharing is Caring and Writing is Caring – My most recent presentation on the topic of writing where I share why you should (and a bit about why you shouldn’t) write about your craft.

Proposed Presentations

• Concurrency, Your Silent Data Issue – A presentation on how important it is to not only design your database well, but deal with how SQL Server (and you as a programmer) need to isolate your user’s actions from one another.
• SQL Server and Fabric Data Warehouse T-SQL Differences – T-SQL is a wonderful language, made even better in it’s inclusion in SQL Server and Fabric. But there are differences, and in this presentation I will show those differences for the Fabric Data Warehouse and SQL Server.
• Generating code with data – A session about using data in a database to produce additional code.

Any of the topics could be presented today, and I am thinking of resurrecting a few of them, but they are listed here for reference for me and for you if you are working with any of these topics.
