Does your job burn you out? Or is it really you? (S01:E09)

I clarify this a lot in the audio, the show notes, and again here. I am describing myself. Whenever I feel a bit burnt out with work, I ask myself that question, “who is making me feel pressure at work?” Sometimes it is just me thinking “I can do more than this, I can do more writing, more recording, more more more…”.

And I have had a job or two in my younger age that I know my bosses stressed me out, not so much in tech, but pre-tech work.

As I sit here on a cold Thursday night in my office alone, instead of going to bed or getting in some Switch 2 or TV time, I often have these thoughts. I do have a strange bit of motivation to do more and more, but to be completely fair, I also really love doing this stuff. Anyway, I have warned you, this is my life, and your life may be different. Feel free to share about it in the comments.

In what could be his most controversial topic yet (especially if you don’t listen to the warning that this is about the host’s experience), Louis Davidson discusses occupational burnout, aka chronic workplace stress. He shares his own personal reflections on his experiences with burnout, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and setting boundaries to prevent it from both yourself and your job. He encourages listeners to find motivation and balance in their lives, whether through hobbies or setting limits at work. The video is a blend of personal anecdotes, humor, and thoughtful insights on managing stress and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
