This past week I published my first Product Learning article on the Redgate Site:
SQL Prompt AI Versus Smart Quotes
SQL Prompt AI can repair certain types of broken SQL almost instantly, saving hours of clean-up time. Just prompt it clearly, check the results are exactly what you intended, and you’re ready to run.
I really love writing these types of articles because:
- I get an excuse to dig into features I might never had spent the time to work on myself otherwise. I didn’t really try the SQL Prompt AI features until we started talking about article ideas. So glad I did as it is a great feature!
- Not only do I get to show how great a feature is, I get to show people some of the caveats.
I have been using SQL Prompt steady again for five months and the more I use it the more I like it. Having AI right in SSMS has been a great thing and it does some pretty amazing things. And just like any AI features, there are caveats, as well as better ways of requesting it to do things.
Cleaning up smart quote infected code is a really excellent use of AI, but like a lot of AI usages, it can be overzealous in it’s work since it doesn’t always catch the subtleties (which I also wrote this blog last week to help support my Redgate post.)
