Feeds I Read Page | Other Feedly Friday Posts
Number 9. Number 9. Block that kick.
If you know you know exactly what those words mean and may not have even needed prompting. If not, click here. But I digress.
Welcome to my continuing series of posts where I am going to highlight one or two feeds I follow in my Feedly feeds. Technology feeds only, though I keep up with other things like theme park news in there too.
Feedly is an RSS reader that you can use that is free for a very reasonable number of RSS feeds. It is the best way to follow a large number of websites and see what is new.
This week I am going to highlight a feed of a person that I have always admired, and who started out with his core subject about the time I did. He was just better at it and kept it going. I am talking about Glenn Berry (Linked in).
Glenn’s SQL Server Performance
Glenn is one of my favorite people in the SQL community (and not just because he has used my book a time or two for a class!). Take a look at the results of searching for Glenn Berry SQL on Google, and you will find he has a great history and present in the SQL community. But he is known for one thing over all of his achievements.
His love of hardware. Kidding, that is what is known second best for.
His is most known for his catalog of DMV queries. And his blog basically comes out yearly and highlights the work he has done on those queries each month. If you are not are of Glenn or DMVs (which are the Dynamic Management Views that SQL Server provides to give you information about your system, as opposed to the hard, metadata type information that the catalog views give you.
As I am getting back to working directly with databases and writing code again, queries like this can be invaluable. So if you want to know what your servers are up to, check out his resources and prepare to be excited. Then give him a follow and see what he changes, along with some other interesting posts like this one on CDs!
