Feeds I Read Page | Other Feedly Friday Posts
Welcome to my continuing series of posts where I am going to highlight one or two feeds that I follow in my Feedly feeds. Technology feeds only, though I keep up with other things like theme park news in there too.
Feedly is an RSS reader that you can use that is free for a very reasonable number of RSS feeds. It is the best way to follow a large number of websites and see what is new.
This week I want to highlight someone who has been a wonderful part of the Microsoft Data Platform community for so many years.
Andy Leonard
I have known Andy Leonard for many years. Not nearly as long as he has been at this (50 years??), but for at nearly half of that time for sure. I have taken a class or two from him over the years, and seen him at countless conferences over the years.
His blog isn’t the busiest, but if you use SSIS or do any BI development, there are going to be things for you.
Also, even if you don’t do anything with BI, you still might learn new words or phrases. Recently I learned the following things from his blog:
Triskaidekaphobic – Fear of the number 13
“before you can say Jack Robinson” – Meaning something happens quickly or suddenly. (Ironically, I just heard that on something I was watching recently. Wild.
I admit, as much as I love learning about technology, I love learning a new, interesting word. Steve Jones’ words post series is one of the things that got me reading Steve Jones’ Voice of the DBA, which was #2 in my Feedly Series.
My original love for The Who was partially for this reason. I still to this day know the word “precipice” from their song “It’s Your Turn” from the album “It’s Hard” which also taught me the word “Eminence”. (It is just a put on, right?)
So give Andy a follow, you won’t regret it.
