Feeds I Read Page | Other Feedly Friday Posts

Welcome to my new series of posts where I am going to highlight one or two feeds I follow in my Feedly feeds. Technology feeds only, though I keep up with other things like theme park news in there too.

Feedly is an RSS reader that you can use that is free for a very reasonable number of RSS feeds. It is the best way to follow a large number of websites and see what is new.

In my inaugural entry, I am going to highlight two particular feeds that I go back to regularly.

Curated SQL

One of my favorite resources to just peruse, is: CuratedSQL.com, run by Kevin Feasel and is basically its own RSS feed. Kevin finds the things he is reading and highlights them, letting us know his opinion too, The feed often features writers that I have not actually heard of, which is nice (and gives me new people to add to my feed reader.

It was one of my favorite resources when I was creating the Database Weekly newsletter, because I know that what was being highlighted was good if Kevin said it was.

It is a cross platform set of links, so you might get a lot more than SQL Server posts, including other database platforms and even other types of programming. This is something that is really good for even specialists like myself to just keep up with other types of programming that writing SQL Statements!

SQLBlog.org

SQLBlog.org is one of my favorite blog sites for a few reasons. First, it is Aaron Bertrand’s site and Aaron is a really really smart person who I have known for so many years. Second, he is amazingly smart and you can trust what he says. When I was editing his work at Simple Talk, anytime I thought he might be wrong, it turned out it was me who was!

FInally, I love the look of his site. If you go to SQLBlog.org, you will see a pretty interface of images that pertain to what the article is about, each with the title, a brief synopsis, and a link. What is cool though is that each of those links likely goes to another site. Maybe MSSQLTips, Simple Talk, sometimes his own blog directly.

Enough to get you started

Between Kevin and Aaron’s sites, this is enough to get you started. For all the links check out https://drsql.link/feeds-i-read/.
