”It isn’t much yet, but it is home” – Me, 10 minutes ago.

After so many years, I am starting a new blog on my own site. I started blogging over 25 years ago on Microsoft’s live blogging platform. After that, I moved to SQLBlog.com, and when that died, the the. editor of SimpleTalk.com pulled my blogs over to their site, and a match was made. My blogs there go back to 2007, starting with one of my favorites: ” Ten Common Database Design Mistakes – Simple Talk.”

Suffice it to say that my Simple Talk days have passed, and while I own the copyright of everything I did while I was not employed there, I will likely just leave everything there. I don’t know what control/visibility I may ever get back from there, but who knows?

For now, I am going to go ahead and add my new blog to my own website, Drsql.org, as I resurrect blogging as a hobby. One of the things I intend to do is to take blogs I wrote years ago and update them. I am hosting the blog on WordPress, using the free edition to start, but once I get this looking okay, it will get an upgrade for sure.

I will promise to keep my blog as AI-free as possible, though I will use it to help me when I can, typically using Microsoft’s Copilot. One place where I will use it freely is for the featured images when I can’t find any in my own collection of pictures (like I did with this first post.
